Circle of Goddesses

The Goddess Dancing™ has been devoted to empowering women through belly dance.  There have been quite a few women who have been part of the group over the years and who have participated in this vision.  The group has changed, periodically admitting new members, and saying farewell to others.

...and what are they doing now, these former members of The Goddess Dancing?

In this circle, we present links to many of the women who have been members of the group and have added to the history of The Goddess Dancing over the years...

Barbara Brandt - Founding Mother of The Goddess Dancing

During the formative years of The Goddess Dancing,  Barbara was a social activist, and was one of the first to declare that belly dance is connected to women’s spirituality.  She was an inspiration to the women who studied with her, and who would transform themselves into the group known as The Goddess Dancing...

Barbara continues to pursue new and innovative ways to help people transform themselves and our world.  She is currently working on the writing of 2 books - one about the Elements, and one about positive patterns of personal and social change.

You can learn more about what she is doing at the following websites:

Amy Smith - AKA - Alizah Afet

Amy recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of her magazine "Middle-Eastern Dance in New England." She is also a member of Big Moves, a Boston-based dance company dedicated to promoting size diversity in the dance studio and on stage.

Cathy Moore

After many years of teaching and performing with The Goddess Dancing, in 2008 Cathy left the company to focus her energies on Belly Dance for the child-bearing cycle.

She started her own company, In the Belly of the Goddess, in which she applies her expertise as a midwife, belly dancer, and pre/postnatal fitness instructor to continue to develop and teach a program of belly dance for pregnancy and birth.

Teachers Trained in The Goddess Dancing Method™

The Goddess Dancing™ has been fortunate enough to be able to train others in our philosophy, curriculum, and method of teaching.  We have been training belly dance teachers since 2004.  It has been a joy to see our belief in the mind, body, spirit connection of belly dance spread far and wide. We hope there is a certified teacher in your area!
